In July 2021 the UK government published a consultation on their proposed changes to strengthen the current ESOS scheme as we commence phase 3.
The full consultation details can be found on the government website.
The aim is to adapt and improve the legislation in its third round. Key considerations include:
- Increasing the number of ESOS participants taking action and improving audit quality
- Introducing carbon savings and sharpening the quality of recommendations
- Ensuring that recommendations are consistent with the UK’s net zero commitments
All of the suggestions in the consultation on improving audit quality have been standard procedure for CLS Energy in all of our audits – all of which are conducted to BS EN 16247-1-4.
The changes within the consultation are being considered for implementation for ESOS phase 3 (work on which can commence for the defence year 1st January to 31st December 2022). The consultation closed on 28th September 2021 and outcomes are expected imminently. Watch this space fr more information or contact Alan Asbury on 07954 702792 to discuss.
